Stocksbridge swimmers swim to success at Yorkshire Championships 2022

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Swimmers from Stocksbridge Pentaqua Swimming Club are again celebrating success after achieving fantastic results at Yorkshire Swimming Association Championships 2022.

The county championships, which were held over 3 weekends during February in Leeds and Sheffield, saw qualifying swimmers compete in a busy programme of events.

Stocksbridge swimmers swam in over 80 individual events over the 3 weekends and achieved a fantastic overall PB (personal best) rate of 70%. Swimmers also secured 19 top-ten placings – congratulations to Mateo M, Paddy N, Finley M, Phoebe M and Logan P.

Special congratulations go to Paddy N who won 2 silver medals in 50m and 100m freestyle, and a bronze medal in 200m freestyle. Special congratulations also go to Phoebe M whose 50m breaststroke time earned her a place in this year’s British Championships which takes place in April.

After the packed schedule of individual events at the Yorkshire championships, Stocksbridge swimmers then took part in team events which were held on the last day in Sheffield. Seven teams competed in 14 relay races over the day with all 3 of the Stocksbridge boys teams finishing in the top 10 in the freestyle events. A fantastic achievement!

Swimmers are hoping to repeat their success at the club’s Spring Open Meet which is being held next month on Saturday 23rd April at Ponds Forge international. Entries are still open for any local clubs wishing to take part. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for local businesses interested in advertising their brand to hundreds of young swimmers and their families. Please email for more information on sponsorship opportunities.
